Art from the Apolinario Mabini Hapi Wheelchair Project: Agnes Arellano

I am no great journalist – I’m not even a journalist at all – or even a writer. But I will try my best to observe, write, document of how I think these wonderful wheelchairs (from the Apolinario Mabini Hapi Wheelchair Project) were made from.

Agnes Arellano             One of my favorite sculptors is Agnes Arellano. This is her site here.

This is one of her works. I think a lot of her work is done by  life cast. This is something I’ve done and it’s A LOT OF FUN (I shall write about this one day).

About her wheelchair:

Agnes Arellano’s ANTI STRESS WHEELCHAIR is tactile rather than visual. It is covered with “breasts” of different sizes, complete with nipples. Made of silicone rubber, the breasts are located on the chair’s back, seat, arm and footrest and are designed to pamper its occupant.

IMG_6401IMG_6402IMG_6403I’m not sure if I heard right but I think these are made from the artists’ breasts.

I have a question for you:  if you had to create your own wheelchair – what would it be like?
